Ombre Piping Class

We're filling a special request with this cake class! We will be focusing on teaching you the best techniques for successful, ombre, soft iced cakes.

This is a hands on class where students will create a colourful piped design, learning how to successfully cover a cake for a range of events. Once you learn the rosette method you will be creative beautiful cakes until your heart is content! Just have a look at some of the beautiful designs we can create with this technique.

We will also give you lots of tips and tricks on working successfully with soft icing, including different nozzle results, best types of soft icing and colouring techniques. These tips will be invaluable for cupcakes and cakes alike!

This class will be a wonderful introduction in to the world of cake design. The skills you will learn will greatly benefit you in future decorating projects.

You will be working directly with Sarah-Jane, owner of Cake & Icing Centre and Studio Cakes. Sarah-Jane is an award winning cake designer and qualified pastry chef and will be available throughout the lesson to answer any questions you have on cake decorating techniques. You will benefit from her 9 years of decorating experience and learn techniques to help you create wonderful cakes at home.

Each student takes home their decorated cake. Feel free to explore your own decorating style and personalise the colours for your cake on the day. All equipment will be provided for use in the class.

Coffee and tea facilities will be provided.

All classes have a 10am start time. 



    Saturday 10th August 10am


    Please allow between 2.5 to 3 hours to complete the course. We anticipate completion at 12:30pm, although the finish time will vary depending on the requirements of each student. We will do our best to accommodate each students learning speed and we encourage questions. 


    What do Participants need to bring?

    Please wear comfortable, enclosed shoes and bring an apron.


    What is provided for each participant?

    All decorating equipment will be provided. 

    Cakes will be baked in advance of the class and ready for participants to decorate. Please note that cakes may contain traces of allergens such as nuts, eggs and gluten.  Allergy free options are not available.


    Class Information:

    Please arrive 10 minutes early for a prompt start. Tea and coffee facilities will be provided.

    We offer small class sizes so everyone can get the best out of the lesson. For this reason, we do not provide refunds for no-shows, mistaken dates or last minute cancellations (within 48 hours). Please understand that this means someone else has missed out on that ticket, so our refund terms are strict in this regard. If you can't make your lesson, consider inviting a friend or family member and we will be happy to welcome them in your place.

    We require a minimum of 2 people for a class to run. We are happy to take group bookings on other dates than those listed, pending availability. Please enquire for further information.

    Our classes start promptly and late arrival may mean you miss out on some parts of the class.

    Class sizes are capped and you will not be able to purchase tickets above the limit for that event. (For example, if you are wanting two tickets but you can only select one ticket when booking online, this means there is only one spot remaining for this class. You will not be able to purchase two tickets in this instance.)

    Fondant Rose Class

    I can honestly say I am not the most coordinated person around but I thoroughly loved this class. Flynn was a saint with plenty of patience and advice on how to make the rose and took the class one step at a time though the procedure, time just flew by. I am so pleased that I attended this class and I have now made my a number of roses for my family's birthday cakes. Thank you so much to the team at the Studio Cakes you are awesome, I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn how to make roses
